CDW Berbee Data Centers Successfully Complete SAS 70 Type II Audit and SysTrust Certification

Madison - Monday, August 29, 2005

CDW Berbee Information Networks Corporation recently received confirmation of their Data Centers reliability with successful completion of a SAS 70 Type II Audit and SysTrust Certification.

CDW Berbee, a leading provider of technology for business, provides data center co-location and management services to businesses. Successful completion of the SAS 70 Type II/SysTrust audit provides clear confirmation of the reliability, security, availability, and processing integrity of services provided through their world class data centers in Madison, Wisconsin and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The results of the audit contribute to CDW Berbee data center clients’ efforts to prove IT control in audits of their own corporate governance, including client audits of compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.

“A SAS 70 Audit is the primary means by which a service provider can convey the validity of its internal controls and operating effectiveness, states Phil LaForge, Vice President of CDW Berbee’s Data Centers. LaForge continues, “The clean opinion delivered by our auditors confirms for others what CDW Berbee data center clients have experienced for years - rock solid IT services reliability. Reliability forged on a strong foundation of engineering expertise and best practice-based internal controls.”

Virchow, Krause and Company completed the recent SAS 70 Type II independent assessment of controls over CDW Berbee's Data Center services. CDW Berbee received a favorable SAS 70 Type I audit result in December 2004.

SAS 70 and SysTrust Background

The SAS 70 Type II audit and the SysTrust Certification are recognized as the authoritative benchmarks of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) against which service providers report control activities and processes to customers and their auditors. The successful completion of these audits validates high standards for CDW Berbee’s Data Center management objectives, which include: security, availability, operational process integrity, maintainability, performance, and customer service. The SAS 70 Type II audit went beyond the IT governance design validation of the previous Type I audit and actually tested the effectiveness of CDW Berbee’s IT governance controls.
