SAS 70 Report Confirms CDW Berbee's Strong Data Center Operational Framework
Madison, WI - Tuesday, March 08, 2005
CDW Berbee Information Networks Corporation, a leading provider of technology for business, recently received a clear confirmation on the strengths of CDW Berbee's Data Center Operations Framework and capabilities through a Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) Type 1 assessment. Virchow Krause and Company LLP, a Midwest-based certified public accounting and consulting firm that currently ranks as the 13th largest in the country, according to Public Accounting Report's "Top 100 of 2004," conducted the assessment.
The SAS 70 assessment, a standard from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), is aimed at service organizations and performed by trusted independent third parties. Clients engaging in or considering outsourcing, especially those subject to legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA, increasingly require such 3rd-party confirmation of capabilities from their providers.
CDW Berbee's audit investigated controls relevant to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Trust Services (SysTrust) principles of availability, security and processing integrity. CDW Berbee's controls were deemed to be "suitably designed" in all areas assessed and confirmed CDW Berbee's strong data center IT management processes and controls.
"This voluntary audit sets CDW Berbee apart from our competitors by providing strong confirmation of our IT management controls and capabilities to clients looking for focused outsourcing solutions," states CDW Berbee President, Paul Shain. Shain continues, "CDW Berbee is committed to providing our clients with the most stable, reliable, and secure solutions that comply with state and federal regulations including the Sarbanes-Oxley Act."
The CDW Berbee Operational Framework is the set of integrated tools and processes utilized to provide excellent quality and efficiency to CDW Berbee's data center clients. The framework is managed through CDW Berbee's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and based upon IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices for IT management. CDW Berbee regularly works with outside auditors to validate the strength of their operational framework.
In 2002, the CDW Berbee Operational Framework passed a thorough audit by IBM Global Services in order to become one of three official hosting facilities for IBM in the United States.
