Frequently Asked Questions
Use the following questions/answers to troubleshoot email and connection problems:
- How can I test my email to see if it works?
- I'm unable to attach very large files to email messages.
- My username and password don't seem to work. Why?
- How do I change my password?
Q: How can I test my email
to see if it works?
A: Send a message to answer@binc.net (this is a special mailbox
that will generate an automatic reply) or send a message to your email address "username@mailbag.com." When
you next retrieve your mail, you should have a reply.
Q: I'm unable to attach
very large files to email messages.
A: Our server will time out if it takes more than five minutes
to send an email message. If you are attaching files longer than 50-100k routinely,
you should use our alternate SMTP server, smtp.binc.net. This will not affect
your email address (i.e. your address will remain username@mailbag.com).
Q: My username and password
don't seem to work. Why?
A: Make sure you enter everything in lower case. If you use
our web homepage to change your password, you must also change your password
in email.
Q: How do I change my password?
A: You can change
your password on our website.
Please make sure to change your dial-in password (this may be in a script)
after successfully changing your password on our page.
